Mentor Text

For my mentor text, I wanted to explore something from Semester at Sea that I could incorporate into my everyday life. One of the many things that I love about the program is the mindset of gratefulness that most of the voyagers get during their time on the ship. Throughout the voyage, the students on the ship are constantly reminded of the differences between the United States and other countries they visit by learning about different cultures in person. It is an incredibly eye-opening and life-changing experience. At the end of the voyage - 4 months - many of the students get a world map from the campus store and use it as a yearbook or a semester book in this case. I loved this tradition when I went on during my 8th-grade year with my family. It was so heartwarming to be asked to sign someone's map, then reading what everyone wrote on mine made me feel loved after only knowing them for four months.
